Take a Break to Care for Health with Jonathan Mertz

Hello tabbies, I recently had the honor to talk to Jonathan from the It’s Your Break podcast about how we can re-bounce from our COVID setbacks and enjoy our lives while trying to get back to our healthy point.

Our chat talked explicitly about how we should view and approach food as a resource to fuel ourselves, not a limiting factor.

You really want to listen to this honest and vulnerable chat to see how you can navigate this confusing world that we live in.

You can listen to our chat right here.

Question #1 to care for health: Is exercise alone enough?

Many of us struggled during the pandemic. We might not be as productive as we wished. We might not have started any new productive hobby.

We might let ourselves go. And that is 100% alright.

Now that we are aware of the extra weight, is exercise alone enough?

The immediate answer is NO.

There is no one answer to everything.

There can be an answer to a problem.

But your health is a multifaceted problem. You cannot look for a magical spell that can help.

For more, jump to minute 5:50 of the podcast for our talk.

One solution can never fix everything. Anybody who tells you otherwise is lying to you.

It is something Jonathan and I agreed on. We continued our chat as we are trying to figure out a balance between all things we have going on.

Question #2 to care for health: How should we approach diet?

Moving on from exercise, Jonathan and I talked about diet.

He did have problems with his eating in the past and is now seeking help.

There are just so many types of diet to try. Which one should he choose?

I answered his question at minute mark 9:24 in the podcast.

But here is the quick answer: there is not a diet that works magically for everyone.

Just like exercise, you have to go through trial and error to figure out which works best.

It might be confusing. But it is not impossible.

It is the clear distinction you need to see.

Instead of thinking about reducing your fun food, think about adding more healthy options to your diet.

Think positively!

And with that, we jumped into our third question. Getting impatient? Feel free to skip ahead and listen to the podcast.

Question #3 to care for health: The biggest problem Jonathan has

Jonathan is a fantastic host, but he is no exercise physiologist.

He has the basic ideas of how to start doing the right thing for his health, but there is one thing he is still getting wrong.

To listen to this segment, jump to minute 13:40 to hear his honest thoughts.

I see this problem ALL THE TIMES when I talk to my prospective and current clients.

It is just so common that it is annoying.

We are in the age of massive information. That never happened in humanity’s history.

It is the biggest impediment to you achieving what you want.

Regardless of how you choose to pursue your health, I wish you the best in your endeavors to be the healthy version of your body that you deserve.
